Rector of NCFU Speaks at a meeting of Presidential Council for Russian Language

Alina Levitskaya, Rector of the North-Caucasus Federal University joined a meeting of the Presidential Council on the Russian language held in Moscow, where she spoke on the key issue of the agenda focusing concerning on the cotemporary philological education.

The council was established in 2014, and at the same time, Alina Levitskaya entered the Board of the Council subject to a decree by President of Russia.

The North-Caucasus Federal University carries out a lot of work increasing the role of Russian culture in the Caucasus, developing a single Russian identity and civic patriotism among graduates. The university is an important resource of Russia’s geopolitical influence through the development of educational, scientific and cultural ties between the regions located in the North-Caucasus Federal District and foreign countries.

Other issues discussed through the meeting of the Council focused on the functioning of the Russian language in the mass media and the Internet, the development of dictionaries and language aids, the establishment of a Lexicographical Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, etc.
