Russian-American Discussion on Psychology of Health

The Scientific Library of the NCFU hosted a round-table discussion focusing on the issues of the psychology of health in Russia and the United States. This event was organized by the Department of Practical and Special Psychology with the staff of the departments and students of the Institute of Education & Social Sciences involved; people of other universities; practicing psychologists; educational psychologists, etc.

The leader of the round table was Ramzia Dudzinski – a specially invited professor of the National University of Louisiana (National Louis University) together with the co-hosts – Nina Petrova and Anna Lozhechkina.

The discussion covered issues of current trends in the development of the psychology of health, namely: health and a healthy lifestyle in the context of national culture, psychological health factors, and criteria for mental and social health. Prof. Dudzinski noted a significant difference in the approach to the analysis of mental health in Russia and America.

Besides, focus was on the applied aspects of the psychology of health: personal and mental health accidents, psychological problems in children, adolescents and students, professional health and professional burnout. Prof. Dudzinski shared her experience along with her Russian colleagues.

We are extremely thankful to all the participants of the round table and hope for further cooperation as Prof. Dudzinski will hold several more open conversations in our University during the week and will answer any questions coming from teachers and students.
