Heads of North-Caucasus Classical Universities Discussed network Cooperation

September 7, 2016, Institute of Service, Tourism & Design (NCFU Branch, Pyatigorsk) hosted a meeting for rectors of the classical universities of the North Caucasus.

NCFU initiated development of cooperation aiming at establishing a collaboration system for training highly-skilled experts in the area of Tourism, Consumer service & Hotel Business within Bachelor’s and master’s Degree programs.

The event brought together Rectors and Pro-Rectors from all over the North Caucasus – Dagestan State University; Ingush State University; Kabardino-Balkar State University; Karachai-Circassian State University; North Ossetia State University, and Chechen State University.

When opening the event Alina Levitskaya stressed the role of each of the institutions in terms of implementing the tasks set in the Strategic development Program for the North Caucasus till 2025. Besides, she shared the experience network cooperation accumulated through the NCFU’s membership in the Club of 10 – a union of the Russian Federal Universities functioning since 2013.

Dmitry Sumskoy (First Pro-Rector, NCFU) told about the approaches adopted in NCFU to train experts to be further employed in the tourism & recreation area of the North Caucasus, and he especially note the importance of arranging training abroad, which is done in NCFU through academic mobility programs.

The discussion through the meeting went around improving training through network programs, developing educational paths for Master’s students, as well as arranging research activities focusing on tourism development.

The next step in this newly established cooperation shall be the development and design of Bachelor’s and Master’s network curricula (for Tourism & Hotel Management) as well as arranging in-service training for teachers in the respective departments.
