Date of material placement: 16-11-2015, 10:01.

Nadezhda Akchurina (Pro-Rector for Administrative Affairs) and Svetlana Kuzmenko (Director, Center for International Development) visited Istanbul, Turkey, while the purpose of the trip was establishing academic and friendship ties with universities of Turkey and entering the top international ratings of QS (Quacquarelli Symonds).

In order to join the best international university rankings NCFU has been consistently running numerous activities – talks with the QS experts and regularly attending QS events (conferences, shows, as well as rankosiums – specialized seminars on academic institutions ratings).

The NCFU delegates visited the Boğaziçi University, which is part of the top 200 world universities, and which hosted the international conference for leaders in professional education QS University Rankings: Emerging Europe & Central Asia. The experts at the event offered relevant data on a new rating system (EECA) designed to select the 100 Best Universities in the Emerging Europe & Central Asia.

The importance of the visit is due to the stable growth and progress to be seen among the higher education institutions of Europe and Central Asia just like the growing number of international links and foreign students. Such events have more than once proven to be relevant sites for intercultural professional interaction allowing experience and academic knowledge exchange as well as reaching global recognition of the results demonstrated to the international academic community.

This trip facilitated the strategic activities approved by the Ministry of Education of Russia for the region of West Asia. Apart from the conference, the NCFU delegates also held talks with Zoya Zaitseva (QS Regional Director for Central Europe and Central Asia) and representatives of Turkish academia. While holding talks with Prof. Taner Bilgic (Director of Internal Communication Office) of the Boğaziçi University the potential cooperation agreement was discussed, together with students and staff mobility and potential joint applications for international grant projects.

Apart from that Nadezhda Akchurina and Svetlana Kuzmenko visited the renowned language school TÖMER at the University of Ankara where Stanislav Sidorenko (Associate Professor, Dept for Translation Studies) is currently pursuing his international degree to further implement the degree program of International Relations (including studying some subjects in Turkish).

This trip opens wide potentials for NCFU, both in terms of establishing network interaction with the leading institutions of this strategic region and in view of presenting our University to the leading experts of Asia and Europe thus contributing to NCFU’s higher rank on the global scale.
