Date of material placement: 16-10-2015, 14:53.

North-Caucasus Federal University launched the International Scientific Conference MIGRATION PROCESSES: ADJUSTMENT AND INTEGRATION ISSUES. The event is organized by the Dept Socio-Economic Geography, Geoinformatics & Tourism (Institute of Mathematics and Natural Science, NCFU) together with the Institute for Socio-Political Studies (Russian Academy of Sciences), Public Council for Migration (Migration Service of Russia for Stavropol Region).

This is the third time the event has been held at NCFU, which has already established the scientific school Transformation of Reproduction, Distribution, and Life Styles of Population (Head – Prof. Vitaly Belozerov and Prof. Natalia Schitova), which is involved studying migration in Stavropol Region and other areas of the North Caucasus.

Migrant adjustment is one of the most urgent issues faced by the mankind nowadays, especially in view of the recent event in Europe that has proven helpless against a wave of refugees from Syria and North Africa. This, in part, explains the wide coverage of the conference, which has brought together participants from many countries – Russia, Brazil, Japan, Great Britain, USA, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Finland, Turkey, and Tajikistan.

The issues to be discussed at the Conference have been divided into four groups – Migration Policy and Migration Processes: Global & Regional Aspects; Theory and Methodology for Studying Migration; Socio-Economic and Ethnic-Cultural Issues in Migrants’ Adjustment: Experience and Social Practices; Labour Migration: Adjustment, Resources, and Risks.

The conference shall be closed with a final discussion to be held at the Village of Arkhyz (Karachai-Circassian Republic).
