The Russian-Belarus University (Mogilev, Belarus) hosted the
VI Open International Student Olympiad in Mathematics. NCFU representatives to the
event were Bogdan Ter-Sarkisov (3rd year student; major: Information Security
in Automated Systems; Institute of Information Technologies and
Telecommunications) and Nicolay Nagornov (1st year student; major: Applied
Mathematics and Informatics; Institute of Mathematics and Natural Sciences).
Tatyana Grobova (Deputy Director for Educational Activities (Institute of
Information Technologies and Telecommunications) was invited as a Jury member.
The entire body of contestants was 49 (students and postgraduates) representing Russia, Belarus, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Estonia, Tajikistan, and Kirgizia.
The tasks were beyond just tough, yet the NCFU representatives – Bogdan Ter-Sarkisov and Nicolay Nagornov earned their 21st and 25th places respectively, which is a great result indeed. Besides, our students were able to solve one of the toughest problems in the contest.
