Invitation from Russian Union of Youth

Date of material placement: 19-02-2014, 10:08.

The NCFU hosted a meeting for universities of the Stavropol Region and Pavel Krasnorutsky (Chair of Russian Union of Youth), Lemka Izmailova (Deputy Director of Federal Centre for Testing), Natalia Lavrova (Deputy Minister of Education) and Alina Levitskaya (Rector of NCFU).

The meeting was convened to discuss two interrelated issues – establishing student self-government bodies (following Cl. 16 of Law on Education in Russian Federation) and the Single State Examination to be held in the region in 2014.

Pavel Krasnorutsky expressed gratitude to the Administration of the leading university in the North Caucasus and said that "Holding the Single State Examination is a national task, and no potential shall be allowed. This is why students are to be observers here while the leaders of self-government bodies should take care of the respective arrangement”.

Lemka Izmailova noted that the Single State Examination (SSE) is something that is beyond just the area of education – it is something of politics. This explains why the Ministry of Education launched the project SSE MONITORING in 2014 the purpose of that being transparency of final exams at every stage. One of the elements is having video-control in all rooms and allowing observers in. Students willing to become observers are welcome and they shall be offered training and the respective accreditation.

The audience got the discussion in the right way, proof of that being the numerous questions asked – from technical details to global ones.

The meeting came to an end with a final speech delivered by Rector of the NCFU Alina Levitskaya:

- Thanks to everyone who took interest in this vitally important topic and in these issues that concern the whole of the country. Here you can really see how mature you are as a citizen, and please make every effort to work so that the whole of Russia can see that the SSE-2014 was held in the Caucasus with no breach; so that everyone involved should feel proud. We, as a federal university, have been vested with great honours, and I am thankful beforehand to all those who will join the federal project. We are perfectly aware of the tough task that the volunteers are going to commit themselves to, and we will take measures to assist them. They will be allowed individual schedules for studies and exams so as to keep their regular training out of any harm.
