Despite all the snowstorms and cold a delegation of the South Federal University (SFU) came to visit the NCFU.

The visitors joined the meeting of the Scientific Council of the NCFU paying special attention to the speech delivered by Ivan Evdokimov, Pro-Rector for Scientific Affairs.

Scientific research is an area where, as Marina Borovskaya, Rector of SFU, put it, the two universities could cooperate successfully: ‘The key objective for the development of education nowadays is establishing cooperation among federal universities. In just less than two years the NCFU has made a huge leap forward and now is perfectly able to cooperate, as a peer, with the partner-institutions”.

The SFU Rector outlined the fields for networking among federal universities (in 2013 all the federal universities joined the so-called CLUB OF NINE – the Council for Rectors of Federal Universities) and gave some ideas on joint activities at the level of the scientific schools – establishing technological platforms serving a linking element between scientists and customers. This would give another impetus to the innovation activities bringing the academic process closer to the demands of the real economy and helping find mutually beneficial ways of cooperation with larger enterprises

Marina Borovskaya invited the NCFU to cooperation offering joint activities within 5 mega-projects currently develop at the SFU: Medicine of the Future; Research into Azov-Black Sea Basin; New Mechanisms and Tools in IT- and Nanotechnologies; Robotics & Artificial Intelligence; Development of South Russia – Geopolitics & Geo-economics.

Alina Levitskaya, Rector of the NCFU, expressed her thanks for the high words stating that it was "important to hear approval from our "elder brothers” – the South Federal University and the Siberia Federal University”. Besides she told about another potential project coming into being that may join the two universities – a project on increasing the unity of civil nation and ethnic-cultural development in the North Caucasus. The two federal institutions are strong enough to pursue the task that covers the entire South Russia.

At the end of the meeting the delegation of the SFU presented their NCFU colleagues a watch, which is a symbol of union established among the nine federal universities.

Next day the colleagues of Rostov were taken on a tour around the NCFU visiting the "clean rooms” area at the Institute for Electric Power Engineering, Electronics and Nanotechnologies where our scientists carry out prominent research projects in areas like micro-electronics, optics, biotechnology, etc.; new Assembly Hall, and the new dormitory.

During the visit the two groups of representatives already came to terms on cooperation in areas like educational activities, research, information police, etc.
