Professor Nikolay Sudavtsov
(Department for History of Russia, Institute of Humanities) has become a winner
at the Russian National Contest for the best publication on the Caucasus. The contest
was organized by the Russian Academy for National Economy and Public Service
(at President’s Office) with 240 works submitted. The authors represented
Moscow, St. Petersburg, Vladikavkaz, Makhachkala, Grozny, Stavropol, and
Rostov-on-Don. 44 of the contestants were awarded prizes.
For 15 years Nikolay Sudavtsov has been the Scientific Editor and contributor for the Stavropol Chronograph (a periodical issued by the M.Yu. Lermontov Regional Scientific Library), which is a year-book publishing articles telling about prominent Stavropolities and giving historical overview of various events related to the Caucasus. Each issue is a specific demonstration of the local and the national thus being proof for the community of the Caucasus and Russia. Perhaps this explains why our fellow has got the high award.
