Italians at the NCFU

Date of material placement: 16-12-2013, 09:41.

The North-Caucasus Federal University has visitors from the UniversityLaSapienza (Rome, Italy). Last year the NCFU signed a cooperation agreement with this institution rated among the oldest ones in Italy and this visit is the first step towards successful implementation of joint educational and scientific plans.

The NCFU welcomed the Italian professors with Russian songs and beautiful Caucasian dances. While delivering the greeting speech Prof. Valery Shapovalov (Director, Institute of Education and Social Sciences) mentioned that Italy pays due attention not to the training technologies alone yet to numerous educational aspects at large. This is very important as universities all over the world are facing the challenge of educating future specialists not just offering them training, and here the cooperation started between the NCF and the University La Sapienza is especially valuable – the idea supported by Serena Veggetti, Professor of General Psychology in charge of the international agreement.

Prof. Pietro Lucisano, coordinator of the joint program for Master studies compared universities to knowledge-manufacturing plants:

- Knowledge is a special asset. You will never find it in a book because this exists for those only who read it. Knowledge is in people’s hearts and minds so there is nothing above passing knowledge to others. Now there is a joint way in front of us. We, professors, are to start something new here, and you, the youth, are to take it over.

According to the agreement signed the two universities shall develop a Master program allowing graduates obtaining two certificates – from the NCFU and another from the La Sapienza University. Apart from training for students there are also plans to offer training for the teaching staff and to launch joint research projects.

-The NCFU does not draw a distinction line between education and science. La Sapienza, in turn, is a University that is the leader both as the grant-applicant and the grant holder. So we hope that we will have not just joint educational programs yet joint scientific developments as well, - Pro-rector for Administrative Activities Nadezhda Akchurina was quoted as saying.

-We do want our universities to develop cooperation. And we are happy that there is going to be student and teacher exchange. Our professors would be happy to come down here to deliver lectures, and, of course, we are looking forward to welcoming students and teachers of the NCFU, - Guido Benvenuto, Professor of Methodology in Educational Research of the University La Sapienza, said.

The foreign visitors have already delivered their first lectures on Experimental Pedagogy to deliver even more in the nearest two days followed with master-classes and round-table discussions.
