Information and communication technologies in higher education

International research and practice conference "Modern information and communication technologies in higher education: new educational programmes, pedagogics with e-learning usage and education quality improvement” was held at the largest institution of higher education in Europe – La Sapienza University of Rome.

La Sapienza University of Rome, Bauman Moscow State Technical University, National Research University "MIET” and Intersectoral Institute of Personnel Advanced Training and Professional Retraining were one of the organizers of the conference.

Rector of La SapienzaLuigi Frati, Pro-Rector for International Affairs Antonello Folco Biagini, Pro-Rector for Infrastructure and Technology Tiziana Catarci, Pro-Rector for Scientific Activities Giancarlo Ruocco, deans of faculties, professors and scientists of La Sapienza University of Rome; rectors, pro-rectors, deans of faculties, professors and scientists of the Russian institutions of higher education, representatives of ICT companies and organizations, including Lomonosov Moscow State University, Bauman Moscow State Technical University, National Research University "MIET”, North-Caucasus Federal University, Moscow State Technical University of Radio Technology, Electronics and Automation, Russian State Academy of Intellectual Property and other institutions of higher education (19 Russian universities in total) took part in the conference.

Deputy Director for Academic Affairs of Institute of Information Technologies and Telecommunications O.S. Mezentseva and Head of Chair of Information Systems and Technologies V.I. Drozdova took part in the work of the conference.

The participants considered a lot of problems on application of modern information and communication technologies in higher education including such spheres as: modernization of higher education: experience of the Italian and Russian universities in modern information and communication technologies usage; role of ICT in formation of open training at higher school; actual fields to increase competitiveness of modern universities: integration of innovations into education and scientific research; academic mobility and network collaboration of universities; international cooperation and new requirements of the labor market, etc.

The purpose of NCFU representatives’ visit was also to negotiate on cooperation in master program realization. The head of master program (Science in Engineering in Computer Science, MSE-CS) Professor Roberto Baldoni and Doctor Massimo Metsella were representing the Italian party.

Organizational issues of bilateral mobility between institutions of higher education, holding joint winter (summer) schools with leading experts from La Sapienza on NCFU base for students, undergraduates and postgraduate students of the institute, as well as its teaching staff were discussed.
