Bring up Solidary Society

North-Caucasus Federal University and executive authorities of Stavropol region have signed an Agreement on joint activities to harmonize interethnic and ethnic and confessional relations, to form general civil Russian identity and prevent ethnic and religious extremism among young people. The document has a tripartite character and unites work of the university, Stavropolregion Committee on Nationalities and the Cossacks, Stavropol region Committee on the Youth.

There is no doubt that this document is very important for our region. That is why representatives of different organizations have met at the university that day: Ministry for Education of Stavropol region, heads of all national and cultural associations, representatives of the Cossacks, students of NCFU. Members of the presidium were Deputy Prime Minister of Stavropol region, Dmitri Gribennik, Chief Federal Inspector on Stavropol region of the Plenipotentiary Representative’s Office of the President of the Russian Federation in North-Caucasus Federal District, Aleksandr Korobeinikov, Head of Department for Public Order Maintenance Organization of Chief Administration of Ministry of Internal Affairs on Stavropol region, Sergei Babin, member of Safety, Interparliamentary Relations, Veteran Organizations and the Cossacks Committee of the Duma of Stavropol region, Sergei Shevelev, Chairman of Stavropol region Committee on the Youth, Irina Shatskaya.

Rector of North-Caucasus Federal University, Alina Levitskaya spoke to the audience.

– Everybody understands importance of such document. Each party of the Agreement is responsible for our youth shall be brought up in sound ideology, philosophy and culture. Each young person shall consciously understand that irrespective of his ethnic background and confession he belongs to the Russian nation. These questions are raised at the state level. We shall create the solidary society and inculcate culture of interethnic communication. This Agreement will allow us to carry out more substantive work in this sphere.

Following up the discussion D. Gribennik has noted that the signed Agreement is good opportunity to solve the urgent problem, which we face also in the North Caucasus. Russia needs distinct policy to settle national issues. He emphasized:

– This document will support us and evidence that we know problems in Stavropol region and we are ready to solve them. I wish success to everybody who is engaged into this activity.

In his turn Aleksandr Korobeinikov noted that the Agreement was also very important for the Russian Federation. Particularly he emphasized that unfortunately there were many problems in Stavropol region, and they should be solved with support of the young people. Addressing his speech to the students A. Korobeinikov said: "Only active position of the young generation will help us to regulate interethnic relations”.

After signing of the Agreement participants of the meeting hoped that the leaders of the student youth would take active part in work to regulate and strengthen sociocultural values, form civil identity among the young people of Stavropol region.
